Prof. Ördög has a wide spectrum of knowledge in the field of plant sciences. He was lecturer of Plant Physiology, Microalgal Biotechnology and Hydrobiology for the last 30 years. He established a microalgal culture collection with 1,000 unique strains (MACC). He has a good command of English, German and Portuguese and participated in international collaborations: bilateral South-African/Hungarian, German/Hungarian and multilateral EU FP-7 and HORIZON-2020 EU-projects. He is an internationally recognized researcher in using microalgae plant biostimulants and biopesticides in agriculture
The main research fields of Prof. Ördög incorporating aspects of microalgae biotechnology: isolation and maintenance of microalgae in a culture collection; investigation of microalgae lipids for biofuel production; plant hormone-like activity and plant hormones of microalgae; screening microalgae for their biopesticide activity against bacterial and fungal diseases; co-culture of microalgae with beneficial microbes for increasing production of biomass and valuable compounds; field crop experiments with biostimulating microalgae.
